Stage 1

Three people per account, by seat

Stage 1 finds up to three people at each account through your LinkedIn and sorts them into buyer, champion and technical seats.

A $300K services engagement is never signed by one person. There's someone who owns the budget, someone who feels the problem every day, and someone who has to live with the work. Write to only one of them and you're one job change away from losing the deal.

Stage 1 finds the committee for you, at every account, before you write a word.

How it finds people

When an account lands, Stage 1 looks the company up on LinkedIn through the account you connected. It fills in what it can about the company, its domain, industry, size and region. Then it searches for people at that company in your buyer titles.

Your buyer titles come from your Brain, the titles it read as your buyers in your website and documents. Before the Brain has any, Stage 1 starts with CTO, CIO and VP Data. It searches up to five titles and keeps up to three people per account.

This runs through your own LinkedIn, so it needs LinkedIn Premium or Sales Navigator on the account you connect. LinkedIn cuts free accounts off from search within days.

Buyer, champion, technical

Each person gets a seat from their title.

Chiefs, presidents and vice presidents go in the Buyer seat. They own the budget. Architects, engineers, developers, analysts and scientists go in the Technical seat, as long as the title doesn't say head, director, manager or lead. Everyone else goes in the Champion seat, the person who feels the problem and can carry your idea inside.

The account shows them in that order. Buyer, then Champion, then Technical.

What you see for each person

Open an account on the Board and the committee sits under Who to thread, and the way in. Each person has their name, title, seat and LinkedIn degree.

A fit ring around each photo shows how well they fit your offer, in four segments. Tap the word under their title for the reasons, like a buying seat, a title senior enough to own budget, or a role that works on what you sell. Fit isn't access. Warm paths are separate, and they show on the line below.

If someone asked to stop hearing from you, they're marked as opted out and nothing goes to them.

When no one turns up

Sometimes LinkedIn search comes back empty. You can add a person by hand under the account, with their LinkedIn profile link, name and title.

If LinkedIn isn't connected at all, Stage 1 gives you search links for your buyer titles at that company. Find the person, paste their profile link, and Stage 1 drafts the message. Copy it, send it yourself, and tap I sent it so the reply gets tracked.

And if you approve an account before anyone is found, Stage 1 looks again right then. Still nobody, it approves the account anyway and threads the committee as soon as people turn up.

How the committee gets threaded

With one contact per company on, the best door goes first. Everyone else waits about two weeks, and any answer from the account stops them. You reach the committee without three cold notes landing the same morning.

Each person gets their own door, their own opener and their own warm path check. The Hypothesis Opening to a CFO isn't the one to an architect.

Why it matters for services

Services deals stall when the only person you know leaves, goes quiet or turns out not to own the budget. Threading the committee from the start protects the deal, and it tells you who to write for. The champion needs something to forward. The buyer needs the business case. The technical lead needs to know you won't make their job harder.

For the thinking behind it, read sell to the committee, not the contact and writing for the champion, not the buyer.

Buying committee threading is on every plan. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial and no credit card. Plans and details are on the pricing page, or you can start your trial.
